APRIL STAFFER OF THE MONTH

Skyelar Wiedrich

What do you like the most about multimedia so far?

I love all the people on multimedia, and the staffers are so silly and they make the life so enjoyable. It’s so easy to work in a team setting where everyone is so kind and motivated to work with each other.

What kind of role do you think Seeds plays in the Dreyfoos community?

We’re the main platform that non-performing artists can use to get their art to a wider audience, especially if they want to get their work outside of a school setting. It’s an easy way to get their names published and be able to put that on their college resumes.

What made you join Seeds?

I wanted to explore the more creative side of my writing because I had been doing journalism the year prior. I was interested in getting into more creative forms of writing and artwork.

What about communication arts interests you? How does that interest translate into Seeds?

I’m interested in the creative writing aspect of communications. I’ve been taking the creative writing class all four years. It’s my goal in life to be an author and a publishing editor, so obviously that translates into Seeds because you get to work on a lit mag publication, work with editors, work with artists, and help make our gorgeous book.

How do you plan to continue this role in the future?

I’m graduating next year, but I do hope to work for the lit mag at UCF and for the Florida Review. I would love to be a submissions-type editor where I’m going through the pieces, or to be a copy editor, because I love copy writing.
