Auntie’s Lounge

“I was inspired partly by illustrations often found in children’s books, particularly ones taking place during historical time periods and telling their stories through animal characters. I wanted to evoke the feeling of judgment from an authority figure as it may play out in a story. Auntie just happens to be a smoker cat lady, too. I could imagine this painting being placed between events in a book in which a child is being scolded, and his aunt must take punitive measures.”
