Caesar?

For this piece, I really wanted to focus on achieving the various textures, like the wrinkles and the stiff hair, that were present on the ape. I decided to experiment using pen instead of paint to further my understanding of lights and darks and where they fell on the apes face. This was my first time using white gel pen, so I would say it was a happy accident that when the white and black overlapped, they formed a third color tone, blue. This piece aided me in my studies and research of how to portray animals realistically by addressing each detail unique to that animal.
