SEPTEMBER STAFFER OF THE MONTH

Carly Canter

Why did you decide to join seeds?

I joined Seeds mainly because I had friends on it, [and] I just feel like it’s a more close knit publication, which I appreciate more than the big stuff. I like being friends with everyone in my class and I like getting to know a lot of people, [s]o I feel like Seeds makes it a lot easier to do.

What do you like most about business so far?

In general, I’ve always been sort of a business oriented person. I grew up helping my dad with his business and I’ve always been sort of into marketing and event planning. So I’ve already had some sort of experience.

What do you enjoy most about being in Seeds?

It’s a really fun work environment. I feel like we’re a very inspirational publication in the way that we spread the artwork of students and give them a chance to publish their work. I know that’s something I’ve always liked to do, so it’s nice for other people to get that opportunity through school.

What are some goals you want to accomplish in Seeds?

I really want to turn it around. I feel like we don’t get as much credit as we should [and] I want to give Seeds the reputation it deserves. We all work hard, and I feel like that needs to be appreciated and realized.

What about communication arts interests you? How does that translate into Seeds?

Well, I’m really big on writing. I think that art can really bring people together and I like all mediums of art. I feel [that] being on Seeds I get to consume lots of different types of media, and I think that’s cool because now I have access to other people’s stuff.
