Quarantine was a big time for me to self-reflect on my art and who I wanted to be. It not only gave me time to improve my skill, but also let me figure out what I wanted the purpose of my art to be. My main goal with my pieces is to make people feel something. Although I usually draw pieces of my friends to make them smile, this specific piece resonated with me because I have always had such a deep connection with the Holocaust. The man I drew was a survivor who I got to see in person a few years ago, and his story left a large mark on me. Art doesn't always have a deeper meaning, but I learned to add purpose and deeper thought behind my artwork to create a piece I am proud of and that can honor Norman Frajman and his journey to becoming a survivor.
