the alps — Olivia Siller ‘23

In this piece, I wanted to capture the duality of the French Alps. They have such serenity both in the cold slick snow and bright summer greens. I used two distinct color pallets to capture this duality.

the window

From my bedroom window
I see orange curtains pushed to the side
Open for the day, closed for the night, I feel the warm sunshine

From my window bench
I feel the fuzz of my pink blanket,
A leg pressed against the window sill,
Cool against the sun

From my bedroom window
I see my brother outside,
Orange popsicle juice sticks to his face,
And dirt from the flowers coats his hands

From my window bench
I read a romance book,
Leaned against a pink pillow,
My pony tail brushes my neck’s crook

Sunset at my bedroom window
Pink and orange paint the sky,
One last gaze out my window,
I kiss the day goodbye

This piece was inspired by the feeling of contentment and the colors of a pink and orange (sunset). I wrote about the things in my life that bring me a feeling of peace and acceptance.
